
Bake a vanilla cupcake
Ever wanted to be a junior pastry chef? Start with this simple recipe. You will need help from an adult.
Vanilla cupcake (Makes 18 cupcakes)
Ingredients
225g unsalted butter
225g caster sugar
225g self-raising flour
4 eggs
1tsp vanilla essence
Decorations (chocolate rice/sprinkles/ edible balls)
For icing
115g soft unsalted butter 225g icing sugar
1tsp vanilla essence
1-2 drops of your desired food colouring

Making the cupcakes
1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
2. Put all the ingredients in the mixing bowl. Mix at medium speed until it is smooth.
3. Spoon the mixture into the cupcake mould. About 1 table spoon per mould.
4. Bake for about 10-15min, until it is golden brown in colour.
5. Cool for 5min and remove from mould. Continue to cool on a wire rack.
Making the icing
1. Beat butter, icing sugar and vanilla essence in a mixing bowl.
2. Add in one to two drops of your desired food colouring and beat until smooth and creamy. For more than 1 icing colour, separate the mixture into other bowls and mix in other food colouring.
3. Put the icing into piping bags.
4. Spread and decorate on top of the cupcakes.
5. Sprinkle your toppings
